Engineer, poet, visionary, physicist, researcher, inventor. Ksawery Sominski’s (1923-1957) – an
artist of many hats, whose artworks disclose strange terms with irony and fate, intricacies of history.
His installations and drawings reveal his nature as an artist-researcher, who wished to penetrate
and understand the “historical fiction” through the use of ready-made or fabricated artifacts. His
works are a fusion of art and real life, history and falsification, mystery and facts.
What if he was a mystification himself? He could move to Maharashtra and continue his research
on poltergeists. What if he was taken to the psychiatric hospital or hibernated. He could still
produce new works and exhibit under the pseudonym... or be entirely the product of imagination
of another artist? Do we believe the artworks if the artist doesn’t exist?
He is a certain clue... |
